Getting from Krabi International Airport to almost anywhere in Krabi, Thailand is pretty easy and straightforward. One can either take a taxi (car or van) or the shuttle bus to their preferred destinations. Both modes of transportation can be booked at the respective ticket counters upon your arrival at the airport. 🙂

Private Taxis & Airport Shuttle Bus
The last time I was in Krabi, I took the shuttle bus from the airport to get to my hostel in Ao Nang. Taking the shuttle bus is definitely a cheaper option than taking a taxi unless you’re travelling in groups where you can divide and share the fare equally among the group members. If you’re travelling alone or in pairs, then taking the shuttle bus will be a better option. 😉
At the shuttle bus ticket counter, you’ll see a list of the fares listed according to the destinations. The fares are priced per seat/person, in Thai Baht (THB). Visitors simply purchase the shuttle bus tickets from the sales person at the counter and they’ll be given a mustard coloured bus ticket each.

It’s the same for the taxis. Visitors simply book a taxi at the taxi booking counter located beside the shuttle bus ticket counter. For your info, a taxi car to Krabi Town is THB350 per vehicle, whereas a taxi van is THB600. A taxi car to Ao Nang is THB600 per vehicle, whereas a taxi van is THB1050.

TrueMove 3G Tourist Inter SIM Package
From my experience, the best place to purchase a local SIM card is at the airport because not only you’ll get a competitive package, the price is most often cheaper than buying it at any 7-Eleven or convenience stores in Krabi, Thailand. This tip is applicable in other countries as well. 😀
Upon my arrival at Krabi International Airport, I purchased a TrueMove 3G Tourist Inter SIM package with 4 days worth of unlimited data only for THB180. A list of the internet and calls packages offered is shown in the photo below. The packages are priced according to the services that you need and the length of your stay in Krabi, Thailand.
The Verdict
I received good reception throughout my stay in Ao Nang, Railay and even Tonsai, Krabi. The internet connection was fast and reliable. I was able to stay connected with my family and friends while I was at the beach or chilling in my bamboo bungalow located in a secluded area nearby a forest. I even used Google Maps to get me safely to the location of my accommodations. Overall, it’s a good local prepaid 3G inter SIM pack suited for visitors to Krabi, Thailand. 😀

Shuttle Bus Ride from Krabi International Airport to Ao Nang
After purchasing my local SIM card and shuttle bus tickets, I proceeded outside to wait for the bus at the designated bus stop located just beside the main entrance/exit of the airport. Because I missed the earlier bus, I had to wait for about an hour for the next shuttle bus to arrive.
While waiting, I took the opportunity to explore the airport. From my observation, there is a Black Canyon Coffee and Subway store where visitors can dine or have a drink. There are also several stores selling books, souvenirs and local handicrafts. Most of the stores at the airport close in the evening, except for a handful of stores.
After a long wait, the shuttle bus arrived and I boarded the shuttle bus to Ao Nang pier for my next mode of transport to Tonsai Bay, also known as Tonsai Beach, Krabi. 😀
