Cheap & Clean Bunk Beds in Spacious Dormitory Room at 1981 Guest House, Ipoh (Part 2)

What makes a good hostel/guesthouse? 🙂 For me, it is a spacious and not overly crowded dormitory room with clean and comfortable beds. Next, I look at the amenities – free WiFi,  clean en-suite/shared bathroom and toilet, security surveillance, etc. Last but not least, its location being close to eateries, points of interests and public transport is a huge bonus.

Shared Amenities in the Female Dormitory Room

I love my single bunk bed in the spacious and clean female dormitory room at 1981 Guest House. Besides that, I also love the dormitory room for several reasons. Read my earlier blog post here.

Another thing I love about the female dormitory room at 1891 Guest House is it has large windows that allow fresh air and natural lighting into the room with curtains to provide privacy from prying eyes. I even got to peek at the customers dining in Wheel Noodle restaurant below. Sneaky me! 😛

The table and chairs in the room allow guests like me to do my work comfortably without the need to go to the common room downstairs. The free WiFi was good, but its reception was not that good on the second floor – a small matter that can be improved by the management.

Some guests mentioned about the air-conditioning being turned off between 9am and 9pm, however I did not encounter that during my 2 nights stay there. Besides, the fans on the wall were good enough for me. 😉

Common Area, Shared Bathroom/Toilet & Other Facilities

The shared bathroom/toilet with hot/cold shower was spacious and generally clean. There is an open-air area with a drying rack for guests to hang and dry their clothes in front of the female dormitory room. A washing machine is even provided for guests to use for free. Soap powder/detergent for washing clothes can be bought for RM2 at the reception.

The spacious and airy common room of 1981 Guest House allows guests to relax and chill other than in the dormitory rooms. There is a sofa set, television, tables and chairs, and even a hammock for guests to enjoy. 😀 Besides that, guests can utilise the two computers available in the common room.

No breakfast or meals are provided, but there is Wheel Noodle restaurant downstairs where guests can dine. A wide selection of coffee shops, cafes, eateries and shops are in close proximity of the guest house, therefore finding food should not be a problem.

In A Nutshell

I enjoyed my 2 nights stay at 1981 Guest House in Ipoh, Perak. I love the dormitory rooms and the other complimentary features of the guest house. The bunk beds are cheap, yet the quality of the service is not compromised at all.

The guest house’s strategic location in the city centre and being close to tourist attractions make it an ideal place to stay for the night. Given a chance, I will not hesitate to stay at 1981 Guest House again in the future and recommend it to all. 😀
