During our short trip to Penang, my fiancé and I spent several nights at Kim Haus Loft, a one-of-a-kind, unique, Instagram-worthy property located in the heart of George Town, Penang. What makes this place so special is it is a revamped jeweller shop turned into a goldsmith museum, cafe, bakery, restaurant, bar and hotel all in one! 😀
The fact that it is located close to famous eateries and UNESCO World Heritage sites makes it an ideal place to stay on the island. Thus, we booked 3 nights in a standard queen room at Kim Haus Loft via Booking.com and had a wonderful time there.

Cosy & Comfortable Stay in the Standard Queen Room
We arrived at Kim Haus Loft in George Town, Penang in the evening. The check-in process was smooth and hassle-free. A safety deposit of RM50 is required upon check-in, returnable upon check-out. The friendly reception and helpful staff made us feel at ease and welcomed.
After that, we were shown to our standard queen room (number 307) located on the third floor of the building. The room is quite spacious and clean. The private bathroom/toilet is kind of small, but adequate. Toiletries were provided, including clean towels, a hairdryer and wooden clogs/slippers too. Our only complaint would be the showerhead does not fit into its holder and kept falling off its place. It nearly hit my head a couple of times – a big no, no indeed! 🙁
The elevated double bed in the room provided ample space for us to store our luggage under the bed. Both the bed and pillows were clean and comfortable to sleep on. My fiancé and I could not find any other faults with the room and loved it to bits despite it being windowless.
In total, we paid RM265 for a 3-night stay in the standard queen room at Kim Haus Loft, Penang. Do take note that a 6% tax plus a 10% service charge is included in the bill. A compulsory MYR 2 Heritage charge per night is also included.

Delicious Complimentary Breakfast in Haus
Our room booking at Kim Haus Loft in George Town, Penang came with a complimentary breakfast, each worth MYR 10 as stated in the brochure. The breakfast can be redeemed at the café/bakery located on the ground floor of the property. We were given 3 breakfast options to choose from:
- Half a loaf of healthy bread (rye/low GI) served with infused balsamic vinaigrette or butter OR
- A croissant with strawberry jam and butter OR
- Haus style scrambled eggs
All breakfast options came with a complimentary cup of Haus black coffee, also known as ‘kopi o’ (without or with minimal sugar). Because we stayed for 3 nights, we got to sample and taste all 3 breakfast options. We loved the scrumptious Haus style scrambled eggs which happen to be the most value for money and filling of all. 😉
The freshly baked, buttery and flaky croissant served with strawberry jam and butter was our favourite – it was delicious! It was the best croissant we ever tasted! The last option gave me mixed feelings for I wanted to savour it with their infused balsamic vinaigrette, instead I was given strawberry jam and butter. 🙁
Overall, the complimentary breakfast and cup of black coffee we enjoyed at Kim Haus Loft, Penang was pretty decent and good.
