A Cruise on the Seine with Bateaux Mouches in Paris

Our “A Romance in Paris” package includes a cruise on the Seine with Bateaux Mouches for two. It offered a unique way for us to see the city as we cruise through the heart of Paris and sail past the foot of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame de Paris, the Conciergerie, the Louvre and Musee d’Orsay. 😀

Compagnie des Bateaux-Mouches®

Every year, Compagnie des Bateaux-Mouches® welcomes over 2,500,000 passengers, making it the fourth most visited paying attraction in Paris, after the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum and the Georges Pompidou Centre of Arts and Culture.

Each cruise lasts approximately 1 hour 10 minutes for a return trip, and tickets are priced at €14 (adult) and €6 (children under 12 years). Children under 4 years are free.

A Sea of People & Scenic River Cruise

We received our complimentary Bateaux Mouches Seine River Cruise tickets from the front desk office when we checked-in to our hotel. From there, it was a short scenic walk (about 20 minutes) to get from the hotel to Compagnie des Bateaux-Mouches kiosk located at Pont de l’Alma, Paris.

We easily spotted the kiosk from across the river and followed the well-displayed signage there. The place was packed with tour busses ferrying mainly Chinese tourists. A large elementary school group from England was there too. It was a 30-minute wait to get onboard a cruise ship and began our journey on River Seine, Paris.

During the high season (April to September), the cruise ships depart every 30 minutes between 10am and 10.30pm. During the low season (October to March), the cruise ships depart every 40 minutes between 11am and 9.20pm. An additional departure at 10.15am is available on weekends.

Remarkable River Seine & Exquisite Parisian Architecture and Landmarks

The Bateaux Mouches cruise on the Seine was a straight-forward, guided, leisurely cruise. We had a rather wet and slippery start when it began to rain as the cruise ship left the dock. Thankfully, the sky cleared several minutes later and we were able to enjoy the river cruise as it should on the open-air observation deck.

The route the cruise boat took on River Seine is as follows:
Concerde – Musee du Louvre – Hotel de Ville – Conciergerie – Palais de Justice Ile de la Cite – Notre Dame – Ile Saint Louis

The informative commentary was done in English and was easily understood. It informed and explained the Parisian buildings, bridges and landmarks that we came across during our river cruise such as the Eiffel Tower, Pont Alexandre III, the Grand Palais, Musee d’Orsay, the Institute of France, Pont des Arts, and Notre Dame Cathedral that was recently damaged in a fire.
